Moncton SPCA job opportunity: Shelter Manager

The Moncton SPCA is a nationally recognized organization that provides care for homeless, lost, unwanted, sick and injured animals, provides a safe, comfortable haven for animals in need, rehabilitates and relocates as many animals as possible. The facility is the largest of its kind east of Montreal, handling more than 7,000 animals per year. The Moncton SPCA is governed by a volunteer board of directors, is supported by numerous caring volunteers and employs nearly 20 dedicated full-time and part-time staff. The Moncton SPCA needs to fill the new position of Shelter Manager to better meet its mandate.

The new Shelter Manager will, in conjunction with the Executive Director, supervise staff, including responsibility for scheduling, hiring, performance reviews, safety and training; manage animal care and welfare programs, oversee operations policies, and see to the effective operation of the facility including sharing on-call requirements with the Executive Director and acting in the Executive Director’s role in their absence. The shelter is operational 24/7/365, therefore the ability to work evenings and weekends is required.

This opportunity will be of great interest to you if your background includes experience in animal care and welfare, supervising unionized staff, proven customer service and interpersonal skills, proficiency with computers and standard business software, an affinity for the work of the Moncton SPCA and are bilingual in French and English.
