Former U.S. president Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933) died 77 years ago today on January 5, 1933. Here he is giving a speech in 1924, reportedly the first-ever film with sound of a sitting U.S. president.



First U.S. president George Washington (1732-1799) married Martha Dandridge Custis (1731-1802) on January 5, 1759 - 251 years ago! Here's an artist's rendition of the wedding ceremony:


Actor Hugh Brannum (1910-1987) would have been 100 years old today. He played Mr. Green Jeans on the old Captain Kangaroo show.
