Idol Chatter - Recap of results show aired March 4, 2010

My prediction success rate doubled from last week's dismal 25% to 50%, with two of my predicted eliminations being correct: John Park and Haeley Vaughn.

Todrick Hall and Katie Stevens lived to sing another day, but will they make it through next week's Top 16 to become part of the Top 12? Todrick dodged a big bullet this week, despite being the choice of many reviewers to leave.

The other two contestants voted off last night were Jermaine Sellers - no big surprise there - and Michelle Delamor, a bit of a surprise. Michelle had a very low profile and was not able to build much of a fan base because she was barely seen during the Hollywood Week episodes. It always helps to build a fan base if that happens, but is certainly no guarantee of success. It just helps, that's all. Last year's winner, Kris Allen, did not have his audition shown at all and was virtually invisible during Hollywood Week, but his talent and solid performances saw him right through to being named American Idol 2009.

Last year's third runner-up, Danny Gokey, performed on last night's show. I thought he did really well, despite the fact that I was never a big fan. He certainly looks a lot happier, with more than a year gone by since the untimely death of his wife before he auditioned for last year's show.

Next week, the Top 16 duke it out for a coveted position in the Top 12! The girls sing on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Atlantic (8 p.m. Eastern) on Fox, while the guys sing on Wednesday at the same time. On Thursday, another four contestants are sent home and we revert back to two shows (performance and results) and one eliminated contestant per week.
