Idol Chatter returns to Moncton Times & Transcript in March!

I'm pleased to announce that my Idol Chatter column will return to the Moncton Times & Transcript during the first week of March. (It may also run in another newspaper, but that is not yet confirmed.)

Idol Chatter is a twice-weekly column about American Idol, the #1 show on television since 2004-2005. Season 10 began last week with a kinder, gentler format and with two new judges: Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. They join Randy Jackson, who's been with the show from the beginning. Gone this year are Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Ellen DeGeneres.

So far, things are looking good (although ratings are down -- at least for now) with the focus changing during auditions from "the crazies" to contestants with actual singing talent.

This should be an interesting season with various changes in format being introduced that are meant to keep viewers interested and to put more emphasis on singing rather than musical instruments.

This will be Idol Chatter's fourth consecutive year in the Times & Transcript, with previous columns running in 2008 (Winner: David Cook), 2009 (Winner: Kris Allen) and 2010 (Winner: Lee DeWyze). I also wrote a column on Canadian Idol for the newspaper in 2005. (Dear CTV: Please bring back Canadian Idol! At least I got to interview the contestants!)

See you in March!
